“After the War: Photos”

On March 30, 2025 four Topaz survivors and one descendant shared their family stories at the Berkeley Historical Society. The event, “After the War,” focused on their families’ postwar resettlement after the camps closed.

Three of the speakers’ families lived in Berkeley before the War; one in Oakland, and one in Penryn, CA in the Sacramento area. Of the five, only two returned to California after the War. (Two others eventually made their way back after resettling elsewhere; the fifth family, the Yamadas/Yagis, settled permanently in Denver.)
