
Ibuki Hibi Lee (Young Artist)
Ibuki was born in 1937 in Oakland, CA. Her parents, George Matsusaburo and Hisako Hibi, were both fine artists. Her family was evacuated to Tanforan horse stalls in May 1942 and then to Topaz. After the War, they relocated to New York City. Ibuki’s father died of cancer in 1947. Ibuki attended college in California, then returned to New York to work, married, and eventually had five children. Ibuki passed away in 2025.

Naomi Kubota Lee (Tsugio’s Dream)
Naomi is a Sansei painter, fiber artist, and wabi sabi artist. During World War II, her family was incarcerated at Tanforan and Topaz. Naomi was born after the War in Redwood City, California. She grew up in Mill Valley, California; attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she wrote “Japanese American Redress Movement: Finishing a Chapter of American History” as her senior thesis (part of her archives); and was actively involved in the National Coalition for Redress and Reparations (NCRR) in the redress movement.
