One of Ella’s sketches was of the Topaz shoe factory. Asaye Ashizawa Takagi, Cynthia Wright, and Kay Yatabe pore over a group photo of Topaz shoe shop employees. Asaye’s mother, Naka Ashizawa (third from left), and Kay’s grandfather, Kozo Yatabe (front row, standing, second from right), were shoemakers.
