We are happy to present a new Topaz Story this week featuring Eugene Takei, who served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was the first soldier to try to visit his parents in Topaz.
Having enlisted in December 1941, Gene was unable to assist his parents through their forced removal from the West Coast and applied for a furlough as soon as possible so that he could check on their welfare. He was turned away at the gate.
