Questions I Never Asked Mom

I was in my own world with my friends and wasn’t aware of my littlest sister. You must’ve made some arrangements with someone to keep an eye on her? I’m afraid I wasn’t much of a big sister to Michi or helpful to you. If you complained, I never heard you.

I know that you had friends and made new friends in the block over the years. You even had time to do some handcrafts, like making paper and shell flowers and jewelry. I have some of them in my Topaz box and look at them at least once a year when I take them out for our Day of Remembrance exhibit at our church. I’m glad that you had some enjoyable times, even among the hard times in Topaz.  I wish I had asked you more about the details of Tanforan and Topaz later in my life after I grew up and became a mom myself.
