The Topaz Stories Team would like to thank the Sansei Granddaughters and the AZ Gallery for inviting us to share some of our stories in Tanforan last Saturday, August 13, 2022.
Ann Tamaki Dion, Jonathan Hirabayashi, Cynthia Kami, Joseph Nishimura, and Ruth Sasaki read their (mostly) Tanforan stories and also shared stories by Yae Wada and Yoneo Kawakita. We were joined by over 40 audience members, including three Tanforan survivors.
The Sansei Granddaughters (artists Na Omi Judy Shintani, Ellen Bepp, Kathy Fujii-Oka, Reiko Fujii and Shari Arai DeBoer) have put together a beautiful and moving exhibit of their art with deeply personal roots.
