Town Hall

An assembled Town Hall kit by LEGO. Two dark-haired girls stand on either side of the roof waving Japanese flags. A bride and groom stand in front of the entrance to the town Hall. A fifth figure holds a large flag that reads "Liberty, Equality, Justice" near the entrance.

In 2012, the LEGO Town Hall modular was released. My father placed a small figure in front of the Town Hall, holding a flag that read “Freedom Liberty Equality Justice.” It was a quiet expression of his patriotism and resilience. On the roof were two mini girl figures (Yoko and me), with Japanese flags. And on the steps of the Town Hall, he placed two mini figures (my dad and mom) getting married.

For his 100th birthday, we gave him two new sets: the Disney Train Station and the Downtown Diner. But an accident (while gardening, he fell onto a picket fence that he had built and lost the sight in one eye) made it difficult to continue his LEGO hobby. He did manage to complete the train station.
