July 26, 2025: Installation at JAMsj

By lunch time, we’re ready for a break! Susan has made us delicious bentos! We enjoy them outside, in front of the Issei Memorial Hall.

1) A Japanese bento (lunch box) with rice balls, sliced chicken, green beans and potato salad. Chopsticks are poised as we prepare to dig in. 2) Three Japanese American seniors (a man and two women) sit outdoors on benches on a tree-lined street, eating lunch and conversing.
1) Delicious! 2) Jonathan, Susan and Kimi relaxing and refueling. Courtesy of Ruth Sasaki.
1) Two women lift and center a panel with photos and text onto a black wall. 2) A wall displaying 7 panels with photos and text, mounted on black backgrounds. 3) A Japanese American man tapes a large banner photo reading "Topaz Stories" high on a wall.
Susan and Kimi mount panels while Ruth works ahead, cutting the background paper. 2) First wall: finished! 3) Jonathan mounting the exhibit title banner. Courtesy of Ruth Sasaki.

By 4:45, we call it a day. On Day 2, we finish up the fourth wall and install the display of Topaz Toddler scrapbooks:
