(Lumber raids and “Jankee”)

(Excerpts from the Daily Log of the WAR RELOCATION AUTHORITY Central Utah Relocation Project, Project Reports Division, Historical Section. Topaz, Utah)

OCTOBER 12 (1942)

POSTPONEMENT — Originally scheduled for Monday, Oct. 12, registration for high school classes was postponed.

WORKERS RECRUITED — Scotty H. Tsuchiya from the JACL National Headquarters arrived to recruit workers for outside employment, particularly beet work.

APPLE PICKERS — Seven residents left for Provo, Utah, for apple picking jobs.

OCTOBER 13

SCRAP LUMBER — Captain Henry Takaki of the Division of Internal Security requested the cooperation of residents in quelling the raids on the wood stacks.
