Dec. 25, 2021: Featuring “Kiku’s Angel”

What was Christmas like in camp for an 8-year-old?  

For Ed “Kiku” Kitow, camp was an adventure. The Nisei parents and teachers in Topaz did their best to protect their children from the harsh reality surrounding them. But what do you say when your 8-year-old son, after months in detention behind barbed wire, suddenly declares, “I’m ready to go home now”?
